MASTERS OF LIGHT
MASTERS OF LIGHT

Light and crystal go hand-in-hand - like an optical prism, a clear crystal has a full rainbow at its core, freed by the refraction of white light. Crystal both captures and transforms light, offering a scintillation and sparkle that allows each Swarovski piece to glow with its own inherent luminescence. Crystals seem to reinvent light as something not only tangible, but physical.

Showcasing the science and artistry of Swarovski Crystals - their Mastery of Light - this chamber presents another dialogue, between crystal itself and an exceptional example of its translation into fashion. On display is an Haute Couture gown by Gianni Versace from Fall/Winter 1995, introducing Swarovski Crystal Mesh - an alchemic ‘liquid’ crystal fabric invented by Swarovski in 1993 - to the universe of couture for the first time.

Crystal here is a tool, harnessed by Versace to metamorphose the human body   into pure radiance. Displayed alongside is Swarovski’s largest chaton crystal, created in 2023. Weighing approximately 75 kilos, this meticulous piece required around 180 hours of cutting time to engineer its 156 facets. Both celebrate the pure beauty and rare power of crystal, utilizing it to master light, shattering it into its chromatic components to dazzling effects.
